>> ABOUT THE CONCERT
Hailing from Boylston, MA, Mark and Glenn Zaleski began playing as a duo from a very young age. This musical family doubled when Glenn met violinist, Tomoko Omura and Mark met singer, Greta DiGiorgio. Tonight Tomoko, Glenn, Mark and Greta will perform three short jazz and folk duo sets featuring jazz standards/originals, Japanese folk music, original singer-songwriter tunes and American pop music.

>> ABOUT THE GROUP
Mark and Glenn Zaleski Duo : Brothers Mark and Glenn Zaleski (saxophone and piano respectively) originally hail from Boylston, MA. As young musicians growing up in central MA they would perform duo together on a very regular basis, developing a deep musical rapport in the process. The two left New England to study at the prestigious Brubeck Institute in California, but all the while continued to develop their duet repertoire, which was finally recorded and released on their 2011 debut album, “Duet Suite”.

Tomoko Omura and Glenn Zaleski : Glenn Zaleski is one of the most in-demand pianists on the New York City jazz scene. Originally from Boylston, MA, Glenn has made a name for himself playing with the likes of Ravi Coltrane, Lage Lund, and Ari Hoenig. Tomoko Omura is among today's leading voices in jazz violin. “Roots”, her debut album for Inner Circle Music, is a compelling tribute to her native Japan, featuring original arrangements of ten classic Japanese folk and popular songs.

NYOTA ROAD: Inspired by Southern gothic imagery and everyday beauty, Nyota Road is a husband and wife acoustic duo performing original songs about family, relationships and home. It all started when...Greta decided to write a song as a birthday gift for her husband, Mark. She had always written silly tunes and even a children’s book but never a "serious" song. From that first tune, came another and another with each song telling stories reminiscent of relationships, family and growing up her hometown of Warrior, Alabama. We call ourselves Nyota Road named from a road in my hometown. Growing up I used to play on the river with my friends and take walks along the train trestle. We would spend hours floating down the river, taking in the world as we knew it at the time. To get there, we'd go down Nyota Road. It's one of my happiest memories.
