JP Concerts & Open Theatre Project presents Mark and Glenn Zaleski, Brothers at Play
>> ABOUT THE CONCERT
"Brothers Mark and Glenn Zaleski (saxophone and piano respectively) originally hail from Boylston, MA. As young musicians growing up in central MA they would perform duo together on a very regular basis, developing a deep musical rapport in the process. The two left New England to study at the prestigious Brubeck Institute in California, but all the while continued to develop their duet repertoire, which was finally recorded and released on their 2011 debut album, “Duet Suite”.
“…the brothers not only seem to complete each other’s thoughts, but also manage to never overplay, to never get in their partner’s way.”
>> ABOUT THE GROUP
Currently, Mark lives in the Boston area and is a faculty member at Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory of Music, and Longy School of Music. He is an active freelancer on woodwinds and bass, working with such artists as the Either/Orchestra, the Omar Thomas Large Ensemble, Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull, the John Allmark Jazz Orchestra, and the Brighton Beat. He is a leader of his own critically acclaimed jazz project, the Mark Zaleski Band, and is the founder of local budding soul band, Planet Radio.
Glenn now lives in New York City, where he is one of the most in demand pianists on the jazz scene. He has toured and recorded with Ravi Coltrane, Ari Honeig, Robin Eubanks, and Gilad Hekselman. His new release, "Fellowship" has been praised by Downbeat magazine and the New York Times.
